The Vancouver International Film Festival 2017 (VIFF) is a major event here in the city to appreciate the art of cinema. The opening gala was on the 28 of September and the event will last until 13 October, for about two weeks. There will be 300+ films, directors’ talks, actor’s red carpet walks, late night music and virtual reality experience.

Charismatic actors

Gorgeous Canadian actors arrived in limousines. It is particularly important for them to show up on the red carpet, as many awards are chosen from Canadian and BC movies.  Quite a few actors, who looked young and unexperienced a couple of years ago, now look confident and professional, greeting their fans generously, waving and smiling.

There will be many movies and documentaries on nature, human rights, environmental issues, food problems, animal protection, etc. from all over the world… Enjoy!

２週間にわたるVIFFイベントの中で最も目立つのが世界中の映画監督と俳優によるレッド•カーペット。過去にここから有名になったスターもいるので是非注目してほしい。

Zhang Aoyue (The Hidden Sword)

全てスタントなしの素早いアクションを披露した俳優でダンサー、Zhangさんは背が高くてカッコいい。会場に若い女性が多く、上映後にサイン入りポスターを配ったり、記念写真に応じてくれてファンは大喜びだった。

Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale)

もとはアイスホッケー選手を目指していたというさわやかなロックリン•マンロー。『21 ジャンプ•ストリート』や『スケアリー•ムービーズ』など200本以上の映画やドラマに出ているカナダのベテラン俳優。

Byron Mann (Blood and Water)

笑顔が優しい香港系のアメリカ人俳優。『ザ•ビッグ•ショート』や日本の対戦型格闘ゲームの映画『ストリートファイター』などに出演している。

Charles Melton  (Riverdale)

現在放送中のドラマ『リバーデール』にシーズン２から出演している、フレンドリーなアメリカ人俳優。
