Ms. Johanna ter Steege is a famous Dutch actress. She is well-known for her role in the movie “Immortal Beloved” in 1994. She played the mysterious woman mentioned in the last will of the great German composer Ludwig van Beethoven, inheriting his music and all belongings.
Johanna ter Steege started her career as a stage actress and became gradually more involved in cinema. She won the European Film Award for her movie debut and worked with renowned film directors such as Robert Altman and Istvan Szabo. Stanley Kubrick once called her the best actress he knew. In 1993 she was member of the jury for the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) and in 2015 for the Rotterdam International Film Festival (IFFR).
We met her after the competition ceremony in IFFR. You can spot her elegance from far away. “I am so tired today” she said, “but it was a great experience to be a judge and I love being here”. After quickly fixing her hair, she posed for the camera. There we looked at one of the most beautiful actresses of the Netherlands, truly an admirable woman.
